Harvard Says No To Dairy

Greetings Angels,

How are you? I hope you are doing great?

As many of you know I subscribe to a Vegan and Raw way of life. A lot of people ask me how and why?

I just found this great article on CARE2, which is also a wonderful website!

The Harvard School of Public Health made no bones about where they stand on dairy when they sent their findings to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and nutrition experts everywhere with the “Healthy Eating Plate” food guide. This guide is a replacement for the food pyramid, which hadn’t been updated in many years.

Harvard’s nutrition experts claim this guide is based on sound nutrition research and not influenced by food industry lobbyists. According to Michelle Schoffro Cook, PhD, “The greatest evidence of its research focus is the absence of dairy products from the “Healthy Eating Plate” based on Harvard’s assessment that “…high intake can increase the risk of prostate cancer and possibly ovarian cancer.” The Harvard experts also referred to the high levels of saturated fat in most dairy products and suggested that collards, bok choy, fortified soy milk, and baked beans are safer choices than dairy for obtaining calcium, as are high quality supplements.”

Not only do cows suffer on dairy farms (their babies are byproducts of the cruelest part of factory farming imaginable,) we suffer. Cows milk ingested by humans (remember – this is breast milk for baby cows after all) can cause autism, cancer, weight gain, bad skin, diarrhea, bloating, gas, cramps, vomiting, headaches, rashes, and asthma. We are the only species to ingest the breast milk of another species. Let’s think on that for a second.

I do believe breast milk is the best we can do for our babies. In regards to this article however, I do think it’s surprising they didn’t express concern about the high levels of estrogen in soy and the significant dangers of GMO? I personally stay away from soy, except as a occasional treat and definitely only organic with a label that states NON-GMO! (OK so I’m not perfect! ha ha)

It’s incredible how we went from hunter and gatherers where we knew the danger of our foods, possibly turning on us! 🙂 To now, where we can just easily go into a supermarket, where many people have no idea of the hidden dangers!

I know many people love cheese, but the evolution of man and our society will be to end our addiction to foods that aren’t serving us, the animals, or the planet. Did you know Factory Farming, besides being horrifically cruel, is also one of the main causes of climate change?

Maybe you can’t modify your diet over night? But if you want to “be the change” and actually OCCUPY, one of the greatest ways we can become activist is by the power of our PURCHASES.

The dooms day clock has been moved up one minute and if the Governments of the world aren’t going to take a stand for the serious effects and impact we are having on the planet, then it’s up to us Angels.
The time is indeed, now. DOOMSDAY CLOCK

What are your thoughts?

All love and eternal gratitude,

Yes, milk consumption is not so great, especially cow’s milk, and *especially* processed, pasteurized cow’s milk. Pasteur designed his pasteurization process to extend the shelf life of beer, not milk. It kills the enzymes and other beneficial things that would allow our bodies to make use of the milk. ‘Disgusting’ as it sounds, donkey, goat, or sheep milk is much better for human consumption, and of course any animal food source should be from pastured (not pasteurized! lol) animals. Above and beyond humans being the only species that drinks the breast milk of another species, we’re also the only species that continues drinking milk past infancy. Personally, if I want something involving milk, I stick with organic coconut milk.

Soy, I never knowingly consume unless fermented.

As to climate change… I’m all for reducing mankind’s (or maybe i should say “corporate kind’s”) raping and denuding of the environment, however… the Earth has undergone numerous warming and cooling periods throughout it’s known geological history. In addition, every other planet, at least in our galaxy which has been observed for such things, is experiencing an overall warming trend, proportionate to that of Earth. This has been going on since at least the 1980s. So unless there are secret human civilizations on Mars, Saturn, etc., wreaking havoc with the environment, and causing planetary-wide climate change on these other orbs as well, I suspect something else is going on. Again, I’m all for greedy humans respecting and nurturing our environment and ecosystem, but with the other evidence at hand, I’m thinking the global warming trend is part of a completely natural cycle. One for which we are all being blamed (credited?), in the name of extorting more of our hard-earned money and the rights we all inherently possess as living beings.

    One man’s perspective.

All good things to you, and keep up the great writing =)

Hi Mick, Thanks so much for stopping by and for your comment. I do agree with you that there are natural cycles on the planet. However, there is no doubt that the pollution and environmental toxins we are contributing to our Beautiful Mother Earth are indeed wrecking havoc. All you have to do is look at the rise in cancer, diabetes, and obesity for one. Then the fact that before the industrial revolution, all our rivers and oceans in America were mostly safe to drink from. As well as the 5 (so far as I know) plastic gyres the size of Texas in our Oceans…well, no doubt we are having some immense impact.
Thank you again for your comment. Don’t be a stranger, it’s lovely to hear from you.
      All love,

Angelique….wonderful site you have! I have been a proponent of avoiding cow’s milk for many years. And not just cow’s milk but all the other stuff, cheeses, packaged, convenience and fast foods that are staurated with chemicals, artifical this and that. I’ve actually listed http://www.notmilk.com on my blogs resources page. There are many other great sites I have found over the years. I will check out CARE2. Thanks!

Hi Dr. Gonzalez, thanks so much for visiting the site. I have been a vegan for over 30 plus years, and watched the consciousness evolve. It might take some time, but slowly people are becoming aware of the importance of healthy, organic, living food. Pasteurized, homogenized, pesticides, gmo, hormones, well, we could go on and on about our almost verging on ridiculous food system. I concur with Hippocrates, “LET FOOD BE THY MEDICINE, AND MEDICINE BE THY FOOD!” Thank you for all you do. It’s wonderful to connect with like-minded Angels!
